Course Introduction
This course, according to GD&T and the plus-minus tolerance standards ASME Y14.5M-1994 and ISO 1101, explains the knowledge of dimension chains and tolerance analysis in the manufacturing assembly process. The course introduces plus and minus geometric tolerance annotation inspection and analysis and multi-datum structures, including dimension loop analysis, data tables, virtual condition, resultant condition, inner boundary, outer boundary, minimum clearance, maximum wall thickness, maximum interference, maximum and minimum overall dimensions, fastening/floating threaded assembly, projected tolerance zone, tolerance stack-up analysis, statistical tolerance, etc.
Training Benefits
- Master dimension chain analysis principles and processes
- Establish dimension chain transfer diagrams
- Be able to calculate and apply virtual condition and datum compensation
- Learn form and orientation tolerance in datum surface assembly loss calculation
- Apply plus-minus tolerance method to establish dimension loop analysis and tolerance stack-up analysis
- Fastening and floating threaded assembly tolerance stack-up calculation
- Use multiple datums to calculate minimum and maximum assembly clearance
Target Participants
- Design, quality and inspection personnel, and related personnel who need to draw, review and use drawings; learners need mechanical drawing reading ability, familiarity with basic concepts of mechanical products, and have participated in GD&T training (with basic ASME Y14.5M and ISO 1101 knowledge)
