Course Introduction
IEC 61508 was officially released by the International Electrotechnical Commission in May 2000. IEC61508 establishes a basic evaluation method for the overall safety lifecycle of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic systems (E/E/PE) composed of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic components that perform safety functions. Its purpose is to propose a consistent and reasonable technical solution for electronic-based safety systems, and to comprehensively consider the combination of components in individual systems (such as sensors, communication systems, control devices, actuators, etc.) and safety systems. In the process industry, IEC 61511, as the functional safety standard for safety instrumented systems, puts forward requirements for the system, hardware and software of safety instruments, standardizes requirements for specification, design, installation, operation and maintenance, and provides methods for application and determination of safety integrity levels.
